Today I did something I’ve been meaning to do for a long time.

When I was a young, completely messed up rudderless kid, my friend’s parents sort of took me in as one of their own.  They fed me a lot, I crashed there a lot, I got tight with their sons.  They made me feel at home and valued.  I was such a mess.  I had no idea what a caring and supportive home looked like (without the undercurrent of violence and fear).

Just through simple unconditional acceptance and love, Patty and Oldie showed me I was valuable.

They (and a few others) gave me a foundation from which I grew a healthy life.  Still, 35 years later, I’m incredibly grateful what they did for me.

I wasn’t really sure if they knew how powerfully their simple acts impacted my life.  So, today, I wrote them an email and told them how I feel.  Just a simple act that I hope makes their day feel better.

Makes me feel better that they know I’m grateful and appreciative.

Who do you have in your life that would like to hear from you?

Just be pure and tell the truth.
